Graphic Novel Workshop*
Thursday, January 12th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Limit 50 participants.
Grades 7-12

Join local artist Tony Moramarco from Bigfoot Graphics in creating your very own manga or comic book. Tony will take you step by step to becoming the next great graphic artist. Don't forget your pencils and all your creative ideas. Dress as your favorite character (optional).

Practice ACT
Thursday, February 9th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Limit 75 participants

Hunger Games Trivia Party*

Hungry for Hunger Games? Brush up on your knowledge before the movie release. Dress as your favorite tribute and join us for trivia, games, prizes and more.

Beach Towel Origami*
Thursday, April 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Limit 25 participants.
Grades 7-12

Gear up for the summer with the lost art of towel folding. Learn the step-by-step instructions you need to stun your friends with creative art at the beach, pool parties, or in your own home. Don't forget your towels! (Please bring two plain colored towels - 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel).

Face Painting Workshop*
Thursday, May 17th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Limit 25 participants.
Grades 7-12

Learn to turn faces into sweet, funny, or frightening works of art! Train to volunteer at the library, make some extra money at parties, or simply impress your friend! You can! Join us in our Face Painting Workshop as local clown and artist "Freckles" teaches us the tricks of the trade.

Create a handmade Native American Ojibwe dreamcatcher and Navajo sand painting.

African Drum Circle
Wednesday, June 16th from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Limit 40 participants.
Grades 7-12. Adults welcome

Join percussionist Chazz for a dramatic performance that highlights his expertise in African music and dance. Learn about African music and have a chance to participate in a drum circle. Catch the beat!

Unique Travel Treats
Wednesday, June 22nd from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Limit 40 participants.
Grades 7-12.

The summer reading fun is halfway done! Cool down at the library as you create your own personalized luggage tags. When the crating is done stick around for a sweet treat.

Down Under Crafty Creations Wednesday, June 29th from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Limit 40 participants.
Grades 7-12.

Spend the afternoon making and decorating your own boomerang.

The Art and Beauty of Henna Wednesday, July 6th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Limit 25 participants.
Grades 7-12.

Natasha Papousek from Crescent Moon Designs will teach us about the history of henna usage, regional pattern preferences, and the social customs of henna across India, the Middle East and North Africa. After the informational session, stay for a henna demonstration and go home with your own henna art tattoo.

Picture It @ Your Library!
Book Cover Contest
October 16th through 22nd

Beginning in August, cast your vote for the Top Ten teen Titles of 2011 at www.ala.org/teenstopten. Winning titles will be announced in October. Celebrate the nominees and winners by creating an original cover for your favorite book at home. Starting October 3rd, pick up an entry form at the Reference Desk. Prizes will be awarded.

Duct Tape Crafternoon*
Thursday, October 20th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Limit 40 participants.
Grades 7-12

Join us for an afternoon of colorful sticky fun! We'll be crafting duct tape bags, wallets, iPod cases and whatever else your imagination can conjure up. Supplies provided by the library.

Salsa Throwdown*
Thursday, November 17th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Limit 35 participants.
Grades 7-12

Who has the best salsa in town? You be the judge! We;ll sample salsas from local eateries and vote on the chunkiest, spiciest and the best. After the judging cool down as we play a friendly game of Wii Guitar hero.



Holiday Craft and Carry*
Thursday, December 8th from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Limit 35 participants.
Grades 7-12

Submit a short story to be published on our very own Flash Books machine. The winners will have their stories printed in a book that will become part of our collection. Please see youth services staff for more details.

Angry Birds Live! Super Mario Bros. paper craft! And more! Create 3-D versions of your favorite 2-D computer games. Supplies provided by the library.

Create unique copper art pieces to display in the Teen Zone at the library for National Poetry Month. Get your inspiration from your favorite poem or write your own. Supplies provided by the library.

Duct Tape A Palooza*
